Theodore A. Griffinger - Senior Counsel

Theodore A. Griffinger, Jr. is Senior Counsel in Stein & Lubin’s Litigation and Finance and Workouts Practice Groups.  He specializes in securities, real estate and fiduciary matters. 

Mr. Griffinger is one of California’s most highly-respected trial lawyers.  He has over 35 years of litigation experience, during which he has litigated and arbitrated over 100 cases, focusing in recent years on securities, real estate finance and fiduciary duty litigation. He has also prepared and argued appeals to California and federal appellate courts.

Mr. Griffinger has served as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of California Hastings College of the Law from 1978 to 1980, teaching trial practice. He has acted as a Judge Pro Tempore in the San Francisco Superior Court, sitting as a judge through two jury trials. He has also acted as a securities arbitrator for the NYSE, NASD and Pacific Coast Stock Exchange. Mr. Griffinger has been named a “Super Lawyer” by San Francisco Magazine every year since 2004.

Mr. Griffinger was one of the founders of the Litigation Section of the San Francisco Bar Association and has served on the Association's Executive Committee.  He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of California, Hastings College of Law, where he taught trial evidence.  Mr. Griffinger is a frequent author and lecturer on issues relating to litigation, including trial strategy and evidence.

Prior to joining Stein & Lubin, Mr. Griffinger practiced with, and was the Managing Partner of, Landels, Ripley & Diamond, which merged in 1996 with a firm Mr. Griffinger had founded in 1979. Mr. Griffinger also practiced with Pettit, Evers & Martin, beginning in 1975.
