Laurie N. Gustafson practices in all areas of commercial real estate, including real property acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, financing and development. Ms. Gustafson has experience in complex multi-state and international real estate and finance transactions, including office, retail, restaurant, shopping centers, industrial, rural, infrastructure and mixed use projects. Prior to joining Stein & Lubin, Ms. Gustafson was a partner at Dorsey & Whitney, LLP, in the Seattle office, and Of Counsel at Perkins Coie, LLP. Ms. Gustafson is admitted to practice in California, Washington and Alaska. Ms. Gustafson graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1973 with a B.A. in political science, where she was elected Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. in 1984 from the University of California at Davis. After receiving her law degree, Ms. Gustafson served as a law clerk to Chief Justice Edmond Burke on the Alaska Supreme Court. Representative Matters
- Represented developer in high-end mixed use development (office, retail, restaurants), including purchase of land, development, financing, construction and leasing.
- Represented client in the purchase and financing of 96 gas stations/convenience stores in four states.
- Represented a stevedoring company in a $275 million financing from 5 international banks for the expansion of its port facility at the Panama Canal.
- Represented large commercial bank in two loans totaling $86 million for the construction and operation of 57 restaurants in 20 states.
- Represented client in the purchase of 600,000 acres of timberlands in Washington, California, Oregon and subsequent $95 million refinancing.
- Represented Seattle downtown property owner in negotiating joint mixed-use development of its $25 million property with a municipal transit facility, in lieu of condemnation.
- Represented a subsidiary of CITIC (China International Trust and Investment Corporation) in its $60 million purchase and financing of real property assets.
